The book is a compendium of 25 papers presented at the June 1999 American Association of Physicists in Medicine summer school at Sonoma State University. The program emphasizes new advances in imaging technology, covering inherently digital imaging modalities--computed radiography, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. It also provides the medical physicist with tools and information to become conversant with the details of digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) standards, and to enable the verification of optimal image acquisition, display, archiving, and quality control of PACS in the clinical environment.
